The residents of KRSI live with determination, embracing life as it is. The house functions as both a living space and a creative hub. Although it often looks quiet as many members spend their days working hard to earn a living it becomes lively during rehearsals, gatherings, and events.
Rofi, one of the members, shared, The challenge is that our work, especially in music, hasn’t gained much traction yet. We’ve recorded songs and even performed on the radio, but it’s not enough.” Joko added, “I love making music, but we still don’t have enough opportunities to share it widely.”
According to Akhiles Kako, the community mentor from NTT, they have recorded Javanese songs and produced hundreds of CDs, promoting them through local radio stations. But sales have been modest. For daily needs, they rely on donors for rent and basic food, while earning extra income by selling crackers and offering massage services.
Their hope is to receive more opportunities and support to perform, record, and sell their music professionally — turning their passion into a sustainable livelihood.
